We are Obsessed with Engravings On Crystal and Glass and why that should matter to you

Pinnacle Award in Glass and Iceberg Award in Crystal and how engraving looks on these 2 different material

The artist, Paul Cezanne famously said, “A work of art that did not begin in emotion is not art.” This sentiment has guided me for 22 years to make Pinnacle stand apart from all other Award and Recognition companies in India. We are different because our designs and our craftsmanship work together to achieve a single goal- to evoke a positive emotion in the person who receives our award.  How do we do this? We do this by pouring our own passions and emotions into the making of each award.

In the marketplace, especially in India, you would find that most awards of Crystal and Glass are marketed in terms of its shape  (square, rectangle, circular etc) and to this basic shape, suppliers add laser engravings. The engravings are usually just of the felicitation and maximum, the logo of the company. It takes  5 minutes flat by a laser machine, requires no expertise and that’s the end of that, the award is done!

At Pinnacle, we do things differently. We use an engraving process called etching or carving, which gives our engravings a depth and a shine that doesn’t happen when one’s using shortcuts like laser carvings. Ours is a 9 step process, where each award takes anywhere from 2-5 hours for engraving and finishing. A single award typically goes through 4 sets of teams, including our master engravers who etch each award by hand.  The reason we go the extra mile and not rely on quick and inexpensive laser engravings is because only with our method can we create different ranges of depth within the award, which literally makes our design seem that it is emerging from the glass or crystal.

We treat Crystal and Glass not as raw material but as an opportunity. Here are a few examples of awards we created with engraving on crystal and glass:

The Iceberg Award: These were designed for visionaries and deep thinkers, the ones who make incredible work look effortless. As Hemingway said, “The dignity of the movement of an iceberg is that you see only one-seventh above water.” A Company is lucky to have such leadership in its employ. We wanted to create something different for such persons, that would capture the depth of who they are and show them that others appreciate their depth and are thankful for it.

To make this award, we designed a triangular piece of our Award Crystal and engraved on it an iceberg. If you look closer, the engraving is not flat. Infact, it was done at three different levels, inside the award.  This lends a mesmerising quality to the award and the way it plays with light. Such engraving requires a high degree of design, and an even higher degree of craft. It’s this degree of craftsmanship that makes all of us at Pinnacle love what we do and inspires us to get better at our craft, year upon year.

We always try to go beyond the shapes of crystal and adapt the award to tell a story, to add a meaning. Take for example our ‘Pinnacle Award.’ This award recognizes those who are taking their company or their industry to new heights with their hard work and vision. It is for the women and men who have reached a great height in their careers and they inspire the rest of us to strive higher. The Pinnacle Award recognises a leader’s ascent to the great pinnacle. The design of the award not only acknowledges the accomplishment, but also the journey. The rise to the top is a tough task, involving mountain ranges that must be navigated.

Following this thought, our design team created a mountain range. Notice the shapes of the mountain, the play of dark and light in the engraving, some appear closer, others farther. And notice the silver lining at the top of the mountain ranges. In creating this award our crafts team outdid themselves! A lot of time and effort goes into the creation of a Pinnacle Award, as it is very detailed and requires many levels of work in order to get the perfect finishing.

I’ll share one more design option with you. This is one of our best sellers. We call it the ‘Circular Jewel.’ The design of this award includes a word maze. The words are related to the industry, or to the company and to the person receiving the award. The engraving is at multiple levels, creating a hypnotic effect when you hold the award in your hands. The more you look at the award, the more you discover. It is just beautiful and our customers have loved it!
