Our Core Values that makes us Different

A group of Values

I love books and over the years have learned a lot from them…..

Two books helped me understand the Real Meaning of Culture Peak by Chip Conley and Delivering Happiness by Tony Hsieh. Culture hard to understand and even harder to set for there is no laundry list to set the right culture. It’s not a simple math formula. It comes with time and every action counts.

However one of the things I did realize was the importance of Core Values. Values which starts to give shape to your culture. Of course, when you think about values the first thing which comes to your mind is

  • Will they be just nice words for a poster?

  • How do we make them a part of our everyday life?

Unsure about the end results…we still started putting our core values together… Values which we silently believed in but probably never put them clearly on paper…  It started in 2012 after almost 11 years being in existence but I guess its never too late to start…

Setting values was not easy. We had far many questions then we had values?

What should we focus on?

Words to use?

How many?

Why one over another?

I remember one time questioning my initial intent… does it really matter… does it really matter to our customers…

A tiny part of me told me that it does not matter. Just create beautiful awards and rest everything will fall in place but I am glad I ignored that voice.

3 years down the line I can see the benefits… of setting up values. Values which help us start positive conversations. Values which help us make decisions when we are at a crossroad…
